Elon Musk’s social media giant, X (formerly Twitter), faced multiple outages on Monday, affecting thousands of users worldwide and sparking widespread frustration.
In the U.S., nearly 40,000 users reported issues around 10 a.m. ET, coinciding disastrously with the start of the NFL’s free agency news period—forcing fans to seek alternate platforms for critical updates. Meanwhile, Indian users experienced three separate disruptions throughout the day, notably peaking at around 3 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and again at 9 p.m., impacting both app and website functionality.
Although the exact cause remains unclear, these repeated outages have reignited concerns about the platform’s stability following Musk’s drastic workforce reductions—from 7,500 to roughly 1,300 employees—after his $44 billion acquisition in 2022.
X has yet to issue an official statement, leaving users uncertain about the reliability of the popular platform moving forward.
